Residents of Nyamesocho village in Magena, Kisii County were left in a rude shock after a 25-year-old woman poisoned her two kids after a disagreement ensued between her and her aunt.
The incident happened on Monday.
Confirming the incident area chief Ronald Ogeto said the suspect Jemimah Bosibori threatened to harm her children after her aunt kicked her out of her house.
“Bosibori rushed to a local shop where she bought poison after disagreeing with her aunt. She poisoned food her 2 kids were eating and forced them to eat before they collapsed,” said Ogeto.
Ogeto noted that a neighbour who spotted Bosibori running away from the house rushed to the house where he found the two kids lying down unconscious.
“A neighbour raised alarm to attract the public who arrived and rushed the kids to a local hospital in Nyangoso but, one of the kids aged 5 years died on arrival,” noted the chief.
He assured that another kid aged 6 months is currently fighting for her life in the hospital.
“The body of the deceased kid was moved to a local morgue. The woman is at Nyangoso police station waiting to be taken to court on Thursday,” said Ogeto.
