The trio allegedly hacked the lady and her 50-year-old son to death using an axe in Ndolo village, Kilungu sub-county of Makueni county.

The incident was confirmed by Makueni county commissioner Mohammed Maalim.

Maalim told Hivisasa on phone that the three are suspected to have committed the act on Tuesday night over a land tussle.

The commissioner explained that the two families have been having a land tussle for years.

"Today morning I got information that a woman aged 70 and his son aged 50 were found murdered with deep cut wounds on their head, three people suspected to be behind the incident have been arrested," said Maalim who noted that the murder weapons; an axe and a panga were recovered from a thicket.

He said that the suspects could have committed the heinous act following a court ruling in February that granted the victims the land.

"There was a ruling on February this year about land the two families have been having issues with where it favoured the deceased, it is possible this made the suspects take action in their own hands," said the County Commissioner.

He warned residents to respect court orders and desist from taking the law into their hands.

"If you're not satisfied with the court ruling there is the High Court, Court of Appeal up to even the Supreme Court instead of taking the law into your own hands," said Maalim.
