Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has accused ODM boss Raila Odinga of conning President Uhuru Kenyatta into the famous March 2018 handshake.
According to the Sang who is a close ally and supporter of Deputy President William Ruto, Raila's motive in the handshake was to bring down some leaders and destroy the Jubilee party.
“We can now confirm that Uhuru Kenyatta was conned by Raila Odinga in the discussions about the handshake. The understanding of President Kenyatta is to unite this country while that of Raila Odinga is to bring down certain individuals and our political party,” Governor Sang noted.
The first-term governor who was speaking during a Sunday service at St John Mary Vianney parish in Aldai sub-county further slammed Raila’s supporters who have said that Uhuru and Raila are jointly running the government after the handshake.
“The Republic of Kenya does not allow co-presidents and we only have one President in the Republic of Kenya thus Raila Odinga has no business,” he added.
The handshake has continued to elicit mixed reactions between political players with DP Ruto's camp accusing Raila of sabotaging the ruling party.
