Naftali Kinuthia, the man who hacked Ivy Wangeci to death outside the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret is a quiet man.
Interviews with his colleagues at their Mombasa Road-based office portrayed him as a calm man who could not harm even a fly.
But as they say, still water runs deep! His colleagues said Njahi ‘does not drink, smoke, party nor is he to hunt women’.
At the office, he is known as a brainer when it comes to systems administration.
“He works with military precision,” a colleague said.
The case is the same in his village where neighbours could not believe that the man they know as ‘humble and quiet’ was a suspect in murder most gruesome.
“We first thought that maybe he had been bewitched because whatever happened wasn’t normal,” Moses Ndung’u, his neighbor, told Daily Nation.
The suspect is said to belong to an entrepreneurial family that is popular in Thika town. They own several houses in the town as well as a book centre.
His victim Ivy Wangeci also comes from Thika town. They reportedly schooled together in primary before they lost touch. About a year ago, they met on social media and the petite girl sparked Kinuthia’s love.
On Tuesday morning, he travelled from Nairobi to Eldoret and went berserk when the petite girl refused to pick his calls. He purchased an axe and murdered her in public.
