Since he ventured into politics in last years' poll, there were claims that he was a business partner to DP Ruto. Buzeki owns a fleet of lorries under his transport company, Buzeki Group of Companies.

It was rumoured that the DP has shares in the company, allegations the billionaire businessman blatantly dismissed when he spoke during an interview on Milele FM's breakfast show, Tuesday.

“Those claims are not true since I own the company with a partnership with my younger sister Diana and if anyone is in doubt, he/she should go to the registrar of companies,” said Buzeki.

“Let me say in broad daylight that the deputy president is just my personal friend and that he does not own even a single share in my group of companies,” he added.

Buzeki further dismissed claims that he was the DP's preferred candidate during the 2017 Uasin Gishu gubernatorial race noting that the DP was not even aware of his political plans.

“I did not even send an SMS informing him that I was vying for the gubernatorial seat. He learned it through friends. The governorship is not a small position where you can stand on behalf of somebody else,” he insisted.
