President Uhuru Kenyatta and several departments made appointments to various missions abroad and parastatals, a move which has already created divisions.

On Facebook, Don Bosco, a political mobiliser from Gusii region, lamented about the appointments, adding that the face of Kenya was not reflected.

"The appointments to parastatals and ambassadorial positions Gazetted yesterday. Do not in any way reflect the face of Kenya period. This Government should get serious how can 70% of the appointments go to one community, Like seriously. We are not passengers in this Vehicle called Kenya but rather we are also serious shareholders.

"When the young and the old will rise up and start a revolution ndio heshima itarudi. Otherwise endelea kufanya vitu as if this country belongs to your mother. Most affected appointments are from the ministry of Transport," argued Mr Bosco, who was recently rescued from Tanzania prison.

Several former leaders who lost in previous elections were recalled, a move that angered Mr Gichana. Mr Gichana has been popularizing handshake across Kisii and Nyamira Counties, and may have been disappointed with the appointments given than very few people made it on Friday from the region.

Celebrated lawyer Donald Kipkorir had also taken the president to task, accusing him of sidelining certain regions in his appointments. He claims that ambassadorial appointments failed to cover five other regions.

"Today’s Diplomatic Appointments don’t in any way advance building of bridges .... 18 Appointments ought to represent the EIGHT PROVINCES we had .... On this, I don’t Board. Rift Valley, North Eastern & Western Provinces are locked out. Not even One from FIVE MILLION Kalenjins," he said.
