The apparent row between Deputy President William Ruto and a section of the Jubilee Party seems nowhere near ending after the party leadership issued another warning.

In a press conference in Nairobi Wednesday, the party council warned its members against engaging in the 2022 debate.

The council which brings on board representatives from member parties that merged to form the bigger party said that the constant politicking will slow down President Uhuru Kenyatta's development agenda.

The council also rubbished calls for party elections as has been proposed by some members allied to DP following recent anti-Ruto remarks from Vice Chair David Murathe and Raphael Tuju (Secretary General).

“It is clear that the party leadership under secretary general Raphael Tuju will continue holding the positions until the year 2020. The issue of an election is therefore null and void,” said Albert Nyaundi of Ford People.

He was quoted by the People Daily.

The remark came shortly after Ruto engaged in the 2022 politicking for the first time in a while, expressing his readiness for the race to statehouse.

Speaking earlier the same day, Ruto said that he is ready to participate in the primaries for the Jubilee Presidential ticket.

He spoke when he hosted a delegation of elected leaders from Western Kenya at his home in Sugoi, Turbo constituency in Uasin Gishu county.

Earlier, Murathe had warned that the party might not support the DP for the race, days before Tuju said that Ruto's candidature on the party ticket isn't guaranteed.

Uhuru, the party leader, has since been avoiding the politicking issue, and has said that his main task right now is to deliver his election promises.
