The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has denied claims of intimidating former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero.
The EACC says that raids on Kidero’s homes, offices and business premises are legal.
In court papers responding to Kidero’s intimidation claims, EACC says that it has valid court orders to conduct raids on the former governor's premises.
The EACC claims that Kidero is out to frustrate his prosecution through a suit he as filed in court accusing the commission of intimidation.
“The former governor is trying to use the courts to defeat efforts to investigate and prosecute him over economic crimes,” the EACC said in suit papers filed at the Milimani High Court.
The EACC says it has the mandate to investigate corruption-related offenses on suspected individuals.
