Months after the High Court upheld the win of Garissa Township MP Aden Barre Duale, there are claims that the MP's biggest rival was later paid handsomely to stop him from seeking redress from a higher court.
Rumours have been peddled that Maalim was silenced with a whooping Ksh 200M even after the court ordered him to pay Ksh 6M to cater for petition costs, an amount that would be shared between the IEBC and the Township MP.
Duale issued a statement that he would not demand the said amount from Maalim awarded by the court.
In his petition, Maalim had challenged Duale's win, citing cases of massive voter bribery and also the improper transmission of election results across various polling stations in the constituency.
After the ruling, Maalim had vowed to head to the Court of Appeal and even the Supreme Court but later on gave up on the fight.
“I fully respect the verdict. I respect the issued judgement as made by the High Court judge. They are not always correct and they at times might be wrong and we have a chance to prove that in the higher courts. I will head to the Court of Appeal and even the Supreme Court to prove that this latest judgement is flawed,” Farah Maalim said in a past TV interview.
To date, he has never had another petition against the now Garissa Township MP Aden Duale.
