Ruto who has declared his interest in the presidential seat during the forthcoming election period has repeatedly urged leaders to stop politicking and concentrate on service delivery.

The latest scenario was on Thursday, during a tour of Kakamega county, when leaders who were in the DP's convoy openly endorsed his bid in presence of Ruto.

The group was led by Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, who urged the Luhya community which largely backed opposition leader Raila Odinga in the last poll to rally behind the DP in 2022.

"This time we must move together and rally behind the Deputy President. We must ensure that we are part of the next government," said Lusaka.

Ruto's bid also received an endorsement from Sirisia lawmaker John Waluke, who said that the region's future lies in his hands.

He noted that the Luhya community has no business being in the opposition, accusing Odinga of misleading them in the 2017 campaigns through his heavily popularized 'Canaan' narrative which was never realized.

"We have decided to vote William Ruto come 2022. We learnt our lesson and shouldn't again support Raila who has since forgotten all about us after supporting his 2017 policies ," said the lawmaker.

The DP commissioned several road construction projects during the tour.
