Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has launched a scathing attack on his predecessor Bonnie Khalwale, accusing him of thriving on handouts from Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking at Lugari on Saturday, Malala accused Khalwale of being an embarrassment to the Luhya nation by persistently begging for money from the DP.
He said: "A whole Doctor of Medicine has become a beggar. Always begging at the home of DP in Sugoi. He has become a house help at William Ruto's home. @KBonimtetezi you are shaming the people of Mulembe nation." https://twitter.com/EtalePhilip/status/1081583781348343808?s=19
Mr Malala further wondered why Khalwale, a former ally of Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula, would back Ruto yet the Western region has a host of presidential aspirants.
But a defiant Khalwale insists that he doesn't regret backing Ruto, adding that he's the right candidate to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
"I hear that my brother Musalia Mudavadi now depends on endorsement. I will work with Ruto and I believe that I shall deliver for him," he said.
At the burial of MP Ayub Savula's daughter on Saturday, COTU boss Francis Atwoli said the Western region shall stand with Musalia Mudavadi in 2022 polls.
