Five journalists failed to ask President Uhuru Kenyatta a million-dollar question during a live grilling at the Mombasa State Lodge.
While asking about corruption and the President’s resolve to fight the monster, the five resulted into dilly-dallying instead of being firm on the Head of State.
Having gotten a rare chance to speak to Uhuru, it was a moment to ask the tough questions in ordinary Kenyans' minds.
The interviewers dwelt on the President’s take on ‘Jubilee members who are opposing the war on graft’.
Truth be said, there is a notion that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s deputy William Ruto is corrupt and has been sabotaging the war on graft.
As such, the journalists ought to have shot straight to the President on his thoughts on whether his deputy is corrupt and also if Ruto is under investigations.
Failure by the five to hit the nail on the head gave the President an opportunity to wobble on the issue of corruption and partly blaming the judiciary.
Another million-dollar question that Uhuru escaped is why he was now cagey on 2022 yet when he was campaigning he was blunt about backing his Ruto for 2022.
In a nutshell, the whole interview failed to address serious issues that Kenyans wanted to hear and degenerated into a public relations exercise by the President.
