According Mariba, cases of suicides are at the peak something that has prompted him to take action.

"I will soon launch a campaign aimed at telling our people to stop taking their own lives when faced with difficulties. The campaign will be held in every village to ensure those with thoughts of taking their own lives are rescued," he said in Nyamira town on Friday.

The county security boss insisted that parents should be at the front line counselling their children to avert cases of suicide.

"Parents should be more vigilant to ensure disturbed children are advised accordingly. We don't want to continue young people taking their own lives mysteriously," he stated.

Mariba warned locals against engaging in witchcraft terming witchcraft as a practice whose time is up.

"Locals bewitching others to commit suicide must stop. Whoever who will be caught engaging in witchcraft will carry his or her own cross," added Mr. Mariba.

He challenged members of the clergy to pray for Nyamira locals and drive evil spirits.
