Detectives probing the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno on Tuesday made a major move in their investigations after summoning Migori Governor Okoth Obado for grilling.
According to sources, detectives grilled the county boss and also took DNA samples in order to find out if he was behind the girl’s pregnancy.
The county boss has been linked to the murder by the public after journalist Barrack Oduor said they were abducted as Obado’s PA organized a meeting with them to meet the governor.
Oduor said Sharon had confided in him that the governor had impregnated her and failed to take responsibility.
Sharon’s mother Melinda Auma also told journalists that her daughter had told her of pressure from the governor to have her procure an abortion.
The DNA tests result will be crucial in knowing exactly if the Migori top man was sleeping with the university student.
Also, Michael Oyamo, the governor’s right-hand man, is said to have undergone the tests as well.
