A former MP from the Nyanza region is reportedly a disturbed man undergoing depression.
According to the Standard, the MP is so frustrated to an extent that he tried to commit suicide.
The politician who lost in the 2017 election is undergoing financial difficulties after losing the many opportunities he had as a mheshimiwa.
His friends said the man must have spent all his fortunes campaigning with hopes that he would scoop the seat and restock his wallet.
“Some of his former colleagues in parliament questioned what could have pushed the politician to the extreme end since he recently landed a job, though ‘small’,” the paper reported.
Stories of politicians sinking into depression after losing in elections are common in Kenya where winning elective seats coast an arm and a leg.
In Uganda, a politician was so bitter after spending millions during campaigns that he destroyed boreholes he had sunk for residents when he lost.
Patrick Okumu, Nebbi Municipality ex-Member of Parliament, said voters can disappoint.
“Our people are not appreciative. All I wanted form them was votes. I have educate so many children, but all they tell me is I’ve done nothing,” he said
