Appearing before High Court Judge Joseph Karanja, the group was found guilty of killing a man at Kakuwa Village in Ndiwa on January 23, 2015.

The court heard that Emannuel Odhiambo, Peter Ochieng', Preston Ayayo and Justo Odhiambo raided and attacked Charles Juma in his home.

The four while in the company of others not before court raided the home and demanded for a matchbox but ended up beating the deceased to death after he failed to give it.

The prosecution said that the incident happened at around midnight, and attempts by the family of the deceased to alert fellow villagers were futile as none came to their rescue.

The judge sentenced each to 25 years in prison, amounting to a total of 100 years for the entire group and rejected their pleas for leniency, reports the Citizen Digital.

They argued that they have young families which will suffer if they are jailed for long, pleas that fell on deaf ears as the judge proceeded to slap them with the long sentence.

They will serve their jail term at the Homa Bay GK Prison within the county of crime.

They have 14 days to appeal the ruling.

This comes only four months after the judge handed a man and his nephew 15 years each for murdering their neighbour in the same county.
