An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party governor has apologised over remarks he made during the just concluded Ugenya by-election.
Governor Cornell Rasanga of Siaya apologised to Siaya residents over his remarks that he would deny the region development if residents supported a non-ODM candidate.
"I know things were so heated during the campaigns and I may have said things that did not go down well with you. I want to take this chance to apologise for my utterances.
"Ugenya is in Siaya County, and just like the rest of the five sub-counties, residents deserve development projects," said Rasanga.
He said that some of the remarks made during campaigns should not be taken with a lot of seriousness.
"This is the nature of campaigns. My remark was only meant to entice residents into voting for an ODM candidate," he said.
Rasanga said he will work with David Ochieng of Movement for Democratic Growth (MDG) who was elected MP.
