A section of elders from the Keiyo community in Uasin Gishu County now claims that billionaire businessman Zedekia Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki quit the Jubilee part for Chama Cha Mashinani due to frustrations.
Led by Paul Kibet, the elders said Buzeki was facing frustrations in the ruling party which were being orchestrated by Soy Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany.
“Deputy President allies led by Soy MP have publically said even if Buzeki wins the Jubilee Party nominations ticket they will snatch it from him. This is the reason he (Buzeki) decamped to Chama Cha Mashinani,” said Kibet in a press conference in Eldoret town on Wednesday.
The elders also welcomed Buzeki's decision to quit the Jubilee party and vowed to rally behind his expected gubernatorial bid in 2022.
“Everyone is entitled to run for governorship seat with a party of his choice, we support his move to join the new party 100 per cent and come 2022 we will campaign for him to clinch the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat,” said Kibet.
He also pointed out that there are many things going on in the Jubilee party that most people are not happy with, warning that more leaders would soon quit from the party.
While announcing his move out of Jubilee, Buzeki who unsuccessfully vied for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in 2017 cited frustrations from close allies of Deputy President Willaim Ruto.
