Sharing the documentary, Maalim tweeted that it only showed the tip of the iceberg.

In his tweet, he reveals the plight of an 83-year-old father who begged to be shot dead to escape his pain.

"The stuff you see and hear in this report/video are just a tip of the iceberg. I met in Jigjiga somebody who narrated how his 83 year old father( a Sheikh) was buried in a waist-deep hole& died on the fifth day. He begged to be shot. Family forced to watch," Maalim tweeted.

Maalim has been of late weighing in on regional historical issues affecting the Somalis beyond Kenya's borders.

Somalis have had a difficult history that has seen them endure persecution in Ethiopia and Kenya during the Wagalla Massacre when the military was unleashed on those thought to be planning the secession of North Eastern Kenya from Kenya.
