What was expected to be a tough test for Raila Odinga's ODM party in Migori senatorial by-election would after all turn to be a one man race.

On Wednesday, Raila managed to convince five major contestants who has opposed the party's decision to pick Ochillo Ayacko as through boardroom, just two months to October 8th polls.

Among those who agreed to back Ayacko's bid include Omondi Anyanga, John pesa, Eddie Okech, Mark Onkundi and Willis Oluoch.

Interestingly, Dalmas Otieno, who had expressed to run on NLP and with the backing of Governor Okoth Obado, was nominated to SRC by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I’m now in dilemma. I was angling for the Senate race then this appointment came. I will have to take time to reflect on it... But I can’t let the President down,” he told The Standard in an interview.

The latest twist could have been done in support of Raila's new partnership with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

And with Dalmas Otieno likely to drop, ODM's choice Ayacko would now sail easily thus spare Raila a possible nightmare.

The seat fell vacant after the death of Senator Ben Oluoch in June.
