With the government increasing fuel prices, all eyes shifts on Uhuru over amended Finance Bill that would see implementation of 16% aborted.

And Raila, through ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, now wants Uhuru to reduce borrowing and spending to save the country from an economic crisis.

“It is worth reminding the Government that when it chooses to over-borrow and over-spend, without due consideration for the suffering of the people and a shrinking economy, it should find other means to deal with its shortsightedness and allow the citizens to nurse their pain in peace,” said Mr Sifuna.

He added: "It is hypocritical to keep silent when and economic genocide is being committed on Kenyans."

Mr. Odinga has been working closely with Uhuru and a section of Kenyans have lately asked him to speak out when it matters.

On Twitter, thousands of Kenyans asked Raila to speak on escalating fuel prices.

Currently, the country's debt has hit the Sh5 trillion mark, causing anxiety from among economists.
