The stonefish was once spotted at the old port of Mombasa. Here is why you should never touch or eat it while it is alive.

1. Kills in less than an hour

If you step on it or touch it, its poison has the ability to kill you in less than sixty minutes. In case you fall victim to this sea creature, seek immediate medical attention before you die from inadequate oxygen in your brain.

2. Has 13 dangerous dorsal fins

This venomous fish has 13 sharp dorsal fins and has two venom glands. These gland releases venom when the creature is disturbed.

3. Camouflages

The stonefish is good at camouflaging. This makes it impossible for you to see it as you walk along the beaches or fish in the ocean. It resembles a coral reef making it hard to spot.

4. It’s fast and survives out of water for 24 hours

This predator is astonishingly fast when dealing with its smaller preys. Additionally, their ability to stay alive out of water for several hours makes them a danger. You might confuse them with corals and step on them.
