The Machakos gubernatorial race has taken a different turn hours to the end of official campaigning. The incumbent Dr. Alfred Mutua accused his Wiper rival Wavinya Ndeti of being involved in drug trafficking in the past. Mutual said that Wavinya had three other accomplices who are under the radar of the US Drug Enforcement Agency and Interpol.
However, the former CCU bos released a statement countering Mutua’s claims. She said that the Maendeleo Chap Chap leader has exhausted his plans and resorted to option three, propaganda.
“I know his plans. His first strategy was to defeat me in court. Plan B was to say I had planned to cause violence in Machakos county so that I be barred from contesting by the IEBC. Now he has started propaganda,” Wavinya said as reported by the Star.
Wavinya has received endorsement from Ukambani kingpin Kalonzo Musyoka who accuses Mutua of ditching the party that made him the first Machakos governor. Some also view him as an opponent for supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection bid.
