For many years, the police service has fought against stereotypical assertions that portrays them as 'arrogant and unfriendly'.

But Matiang'i, while lauding Police Band, said the force is friendly and can 'make fun contrary to what people say'.

"Your Excellency as you can see, the police service is friendly contrary to what people say about those in security.

"Sometimes we can have fun. We are not hard as people think," Matiang'i said amid laughter from the Head of State.

And the security meeting comes at the time police from Matiang'i's Kisii backyard are accused of extra judicial killings.

On Wednesday, police killed two civilians before residents of Kenyenya lynched one of them causing intervention from the Interior CS.

It is alleged that the police wrestled and killed a Matatu conductor for no apparent reason before shooting a civilian thus causing fracas.

At Kenya School of Government, Uhuru urged the police to act within the law.

"As a service, discipline is key to our success. We must ensure our people are served well."
