Four youths from Nandi county will spend the weekend behind bars after they were arrested for allegedly opening a fake Uwezo Fund website.
The four Collins Kiptanui, Joakim Kibet, Dominic Kimutai and Brian Kiplagat were arrested on Friday by the serious crimes unit detectives.
A tweet by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) indicates that the suspects created a website similar to that of Uwezo Fund.
"Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit have Today afternoon arrested four young men who created a website similar to Uwezo Fund and using the name of the @FirstLadyKenya, defrauded applicants millions of shillings after they sent an application fee for loan processing," reads one of the tweets by DCI.
"The four suspects are currently in lawful custody and will be arraigned in court on Monday. We thank the members of the public for their vigilance," DCI wrote in another tweet.
