Chief Justice David Maraga now says he's 'confused' on what to do with Sh14.5 billion allocated to the judiciary by parliament in 2018/19 financial year.
The Judiciary had sent a proposal of Sh31.2 billion to the legislative arm to finance its operations but would later be slashed to just half.
In Nairobi on Tuesday, Maraga said the move would sabotage operations including completion of various buildings across the country.
“We are at a loss on what to do with the allocation as it is now, it means a number of projects especially on construction across the country will literally stop affecting service delivery,” Maraga said.
The visibly frustrated CJ added: More than 70 per cent of court construction projects will stall following the budget cut and expiry of World Bank funding in December,”
According to the President of Surprene Court, 29 per cent funding from World Bank is not guaranteed since the institution has not shown willingness to renew the agreement.
Of the Sh31.2 billion requested, Sh19.8 billion was to go for recurrent expenditure while the remaining in development.
