The MP noted that he is not in any way part of the government, arguing that belonging to the party that formed the government doesn't make him a stakeholder.

The lawmaker stated that he should, therefore, not be seen as a person who is in government, in a country where members of the ruling party are deemed to be insiders.

"Am not in government, it's only that my party formed the government (Mimi siko katika serikali, ni tu kwamba chama changu kiliunda serikali)," Barasa said on Tuesday morning.

The MP was speaking on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha, where he added that the same applies to all his colleagues in the legislative houses; National Assembly and Senate.

Barasa said that no MP can brag of being in the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government, as they carry out the same roles, which are different from those of the Executive.

"All MPs' roles are similar. Though I was elected on a Jubilee ticket I am not different from independent MPs or those elected on an ODM Party ticket (Majukumu ya wabunge wote yanafanana. Licha ya kuwa nilichaguliwa na Jubilee si tofauti na wale binafsi ama was chama cha ODM)," he added.
