Deputy President William Ruto's presidential campaign team in Kisii County on Tuesday suffered a major blow after Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka withdrew his support.
Onyonka said his time in Ruto's camp is up.
"I'm no longer supporting DP Ruto for the presidency because his name is widely being mentioned in graft. Selling him to the people will be difficult for me," said the Ford Kenya Party elected MP.
The ODM rebel legislator stated that DP Ruto is being surrounded by misinformed advisers who have failed to advise him accordingly.
"Ruto is taking NASA leader Raila Odinga to be his equal because he is being surrounded with advisers who can't advise him on how he should relate with leaders who have been in politics for long. He must know how to respect people like Raila failure to which his political career will end prematurely," he stated.
Onyonka confirmed that he is committed to ensuring he becomes the next Kisii county governor once the current Governor James Ongwae completes his term in 2022.
"I'm going for a bigger seat come 2022," he added.
