Last week, county Tourism minister Peter Muga disowned her victory, insisting that the county government wasn't aware of it.

"I have actually seen it on social media. It's fake and when our time comes to do the competition, everyone shall know about it," he said.

Besides the small controversial, the former Miss Campus MMUST is an established business lady and has funded her contests worth millions solely from the business she does.

“I got into business in my first year. That was after I received Sh35,000 from the Higher Education Loans Board (Helb). I went to Gikomba market in Nairobi and bought mitumba clothes and ladies’ shoes worth Sh25,000,” said Miss Benita.

She added, “I would move from one hostel to the next peddling my goods and I made good money. I later opened a stall along the Kakamega-Malava road, adjacent to the university and employed a local. The rest, as they say, is history."

In 2017, she ran the most successful campaign in Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology that saw her clinch the beauty pageant competition and student body leadership position as Vice Chairlady.

And with millions already in her pockets, she will give a stab at Nyamira County Women Rep race in 2022 where she expects 'nothing less than victory'.
