29-year-old Monica Nyawira Kimani who was found murdered in her apartment at Kilimani was a rich girl.
While still under 30, Monix as friends called her, was driving the new BMW X5 which is more than Sh10 million.
She also had bought a mansion in Ruaka but chose to live within the posh estate of Kilimani at Lamuria Gardens where a one-month rent costs an arm and a leg.
She also dined and wined in exotic places where she showed up dressed in expensive trendy outfits.
Friends describe her as ‘smart and hardworking’.
Family describes her as ‘innovative and creative’.
Her Facebook posts paint the image of an optimistic girl. One who obeys the moral principles of life.
In one of the posts, she tells young girls to shun sponsors and work hard.
Many of her posts are shared stories of inspiration.
“In all situations thank God even in mourning as we mourn my uncle who died in South Sudan🇸🇸 in maban where he was working. May you Rest In Peace uncle Waweru. May God comfort your wife and children,” she said on her page on August 30.
Her last post was on September 16 while at D. Biar Sports Complex.
She posted: “I can kick a ball and surprisingly to many am good at it l. Sunday fun work out.”
Close friends told this writer, that Monix was a humble girl despite being considered rich.
The journey to wealth for Monix started in 2013 when as a naïve girl joined the Kenyan Embassy at South Sudan.
“She had just finished college, I think at Technical University of Kenya, when she was connected by family to do an internship at the embassy,” a source close to her told this writer.

According to other sources, who preferred anonymity, the 29-year-old had family members in South Sudan who knew ‘important people’.
“That is how she forgot her career and ventured into business. She started making millions and making foreign friends,” the source said.
Were it not for the brutal murder, Monix was to fly to Dubai for a vacation and then return on September 28.
On October 10, she was set to spoil her friends as it was her birthday.
