A man has committed suicide in Bungoma County after allegedly being left by his wife.
32-year-old Protus Wafula who is a motorbike mechanic reportedly took his wife on Sunday morning.
He used a rope to hand himself inside his rental in Kiminini Township, moments after having a drink at a nearby pub.
However, according to his friend Patrick Masaba who met him an hour to the incident, Protus was fine at the time.
"We were with him this morning and he was in good spirits.He didn't show any signs of stress," Masaba was quoted by the Standard.
Justus Wafula who is an uncle to the deceased said that his wife left last month after a series of disagreements.
The woman who is known as Linda or Mama Sammy, he said, left for her parent's home in Saboti with their two children.
Another friend, Fred Wafula, also expressed shock, nothing that they were set to meet for a business meeting on Sunday morning.
"We were together on Saturday and we had agreed to meet today for a business deal and I'm shocked that he has committed suicide," he said.
Before his death, Protus was living with another woman who came.in after his wife left.
The body was moved to the Kitale District Mortuary by officers from Mutangale Police Station.
