A section of MPs from Gusii region have said Raila has hit retirement age and therefore, his referendum calls should be ignored.

Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi said Raila has been in active politic for long and he should accept to retire.

"Raila is trying to push for a referendum so that he can continue vying for Presidency. I am humbly requesting him to drop the referendum plans and accept to retire from active politics in peace," he said.

The Jubilee MP said the ODM party leader should allow youthful leaders in the opposition to take over the leadership of the party.

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka condemned the former Prime Minister for calling a referendum to amend the constitution.

"Kenyans are tired with Raila's style of politics. He has lost Presidency 3 times and it is his time to accept and retire. The country can't afford to amend the constitution in his favor," he said.

Onyonka called on Gusii leaders not to join Raila's camp to push for referendum.
