Learning on Monday resumed as planned in various primary school around Eldoret town despite the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) calling for a nationwide strike.
This is after a Nairobi court on Wednesday issued an order stopping the strike.
A spot check done in some schools within the Uasin Gishu's capital indicates that most teachers and pupils had reported and learning was going on as usual.
According to Kapsoya Primary school head teacher Edagiza Sammy, everything was in order as students and teachers had reported to school on time.
“All is well and we appreciate what has been done in the negotiations making sure that we are back in school,” said Edagiza.
Ben Buluma, a head teacher Central primary school also said all teachers had reported as well as a number of pupils.
“We are very busy because parents are seeking chances for their children at the very beginning of the year may be because we did very well in 2018 otherwise we have no problem at all,” said Buluma.
KNUT had threatened to start the strike on Thursday over promotions, transfers, performance contracting and professional development modules.
The court while stopping the strike however also stopped the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) from transferring union officials from areas of their election.
