The lawmakers, who spoke at a funeral in Masamba village in Yimbo East following an invitation by Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda, said that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) should support the second in command when that time comes.

Led by  Belgut MP Nelson Koech, the leaders said that Raila, who doubles as African Union Special envoy,  needs to rethink about the support he was accorded by DP Ruto in 2007.

The leaders said that Ruto led the Kalenjin community to back the presidency of the Luo political kingpin. They said that the DP will be in a good position to win the race for power if he gets the support of Raila.

"We've come a long way and you know very well that the DP stood with Raila in 2007 elections. It's therefore in no doubt that you owe us support in the next elections," said Koech, as quoted by Standard.

On his part, Ochanda appealed to leaders and other Kenyans to support President Uhuru following the handshake between him and Raila. Ruto and Raila have been launching attacks at each other. They duo has different opinions on the call for the referendum.
