The locals mainly traders at Ikonge market blamed Matiang'i for the escalating cases of insecurity in the region.

"Since Matiang'i took over the Interior Ministry docket, insecurity has been on the rise more especially in the market where thieves have been stealing our products. Police officers are sleeping on the job and Matiang'i has given a deaf ear to our calls to have the current police officers transferred," noted Michael Onserio on Wednesday at the Ikonge market.

Onserio has now called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack Matiang'i.

Another local Gertrude Gesare argued that Matiang'i has been embarrassing Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators but, he has failed in his docket.

"It is shameful for Matiang'i to focus on helping other Cabinet Secretaries in their work yet he has failed to streamline his docket. He should go home," said Gesare.

Similar sentiments were shared by Philip Morumbwa who maintained that CS Matiang'i is only good at harassing people but, poor in actions.

"We want security to be tight at Ikonge market and its surroundings during this festive season failure to which we will protest," he stated.
