Ruto has Rift Valley and Central Kenya if 'lipa deni' is anything to go by. However, a number of Central Kenya politicians have occasionally come out and declared DP Ruto's presidential bid will not be endorsed in Mt Kenya.

This has caused sleepless nights in DP Ruto's camp which has gained the name 'Team Tangatanga'. They ought to consider the following in order to win the vote-rich block.

1. Deliver 2017 promises

DP Ruto has an obligation to deliver the promises he made to Mt Kenya people at the end of this first term. He together with president Uhuru Kenyatta camped in Mt Kenya during the 2017 electioneering period promising people good roads, dams, connection to electricity, improved health care among others.

President Kenyatta's term will end in 2022 and DP Ruto will be answerable to voters based on the development projects.

2. Grassroots politics

Seeking votes needs one on one meeting with the electorates and pursuing them to give you votes.

In DP Ruto's case, if he really needs Mt Kenya votes, he 'must' personally interact with the voters there. He must not rely on his allies to seek votes from the locals.

He can do this by attending important functions in the region which includes launching government projects, public holidays and if possible hold harambees.
