Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has come out to declare her wealth amid report that she is among the people most Kenyans perceive as corrupt.
A poll by Ipsos Synovate released few days ago ranked Waiguru as the second-most corrupt person behind Deputy President William Ruto.
But speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday night, the county boss dismissed the poll as malicious saying her wealth is about Sh300 million which she has gained through 'hard work'.
"My net worth is about 300 million and I was ranked as the second most corrupt person in a list of multi-billionaires," she said in reference to the likes of retired President Daniel Moi, President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga who were also named in the Ipsos survey.
On the details of the properties she owns, Waiguru revealed she has two two houses in Nairobi, one in Kihingo (where she lives) and another one in Runda along Kiambu Road.
The governor further revealed she owns a piece of land in Sagana, Kirinyaga county and another property in Mlolongo.
"I took a loan of Sh50 million in 2013 to buy the property in Mlolongo. Am still servicing the loan in addition to others," she said.
"I have been working for 30 years...at least I deserve to own something. I moved to Runda when my kids were 7 years and land then was about 2.5 million," she added.
Waiguru threw her weight behind calls by President Kenyatta for lifestyle audit on State and public officers, noting that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission already knows what she owns.
"EACC has done a lifestyle audit on me and I would not mind if they made it public," the former Devolution Cabinet Secretary said.
