In a new team constituted after the handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, Mr Odinga settled on Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, his wife Ida Odinga, Governor Anyang Nyong'o and Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju as his main advisers.

However, the decision to replace Orengo was reportedly arrived at after Mr Odinga agreed to have Mr Orengo in charge of the parliamentary group, which may prove hectic for him, a source confided.

"It is not really edging him out. Jim is still a critical player and being in charge of all ODM legislators is a huge privilege. He will however feature in several legal issues that pertains Mr Odinga.

"Advisors are people who are easily available. Tuju was brought in due to his experience from the other side while Nyong'o is there courtesy of his rich knowledge in political dynamics and it's scientific nature. Orengo may not manage all the tasks thus the decision," the source, who worked at defunct NASA Secretariat said.

Lately, Orengo has been missing out in Odinga's secret missions with the handshake also catching him flat-footed like many other politicians. But in the President Uhuru's trip to Kisumu, Orengo was in charge of all Luo leadership meeting.

When contacted over the new development, ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire declined to comment, only insisting that he's in charge of the party's Treasury alone.

"I am not aware. I am only dealing with finances. I am not the right candidate to speak on the issues you've raised," he said.

When Mr Odinga reconciled with President Uhuru Kenyatta, only Junet Mohammed, Winnie Odinga and lawyer Paul Mwangi featured at Harambee House, further raising questions about James Orengo's role in Odinga's inner circle.
