A 53-year-old man is nursing injuries after a thorough beating from his wife of 15 years.
The beating came after the man, Ambrose Mokaya, stole his wife Jane Nyaboke’s underwear and subsequently selling them in exchange for liquor.
The incident happened on Sunday in Metamaywa, Nyamira County.
Nyaboke said the man has been stealing anything he comes across for the purpose of getting money for liquor.
“My husband has turned to be a chang’aa addict and a thief stealing anything he comes across to.
"He stole my 3 underwear which I bought and took them to exchange with a chang’aa seller,” she said.
"His friends notified me, I rushed to the chang’aa den where I beat him up before he produced the 3 underwear he was hiding in the pocket of his coat.
“I have tolerated him much and I am not going to condone his bad behaviors any longer. I will get him a thorough beating until he stops stealing,” she noted.
Area assistant chief, Benjamin Omweri, condemned the man saying if he will not change he will face the law.
“Theft is illegal and punishable by law. Chang’aa addicts and sellers are the reason theft is making a comeback in the region but, I am not going to condone such behaviors in my area of jurisdiction,” he said.
He said making and selling of Chang’aa is prohibited and whoever who will be found will face the law alone.
