AFC Leopards head coach Rodolfo Zapata will not have the comfort of picking on his lead scorer Ezekiel Odera for the game against Gor Mahia on Saturday 25th August, as the striker is suspended after picking a yellow card in the win over Thika United.
Odera will be serving a two-match ban after earlier in the season picking a red card, and he will also miss the game against Wazito FC.
This is a blow to Ingwe side, who have also lost one of their best midfielders in Marvin, who picked an injury during the training session ahead of the derby.
Gor will clinch a record 17th title with a win or draw against AFC, and will enjoy an upper hand having won their past two encounters between the two teams.
However, Gor will be wary of AFC, who have been in imperious form in the recent matches. Since losing to Gor Mahia 2-1 in the first leg, AFC Leopards have managed to string a winning run of five matches in all competitions.
They first beat Mwatate FC 2-1 in FKF Shield Cup, then started a good run in the league with a 1-0 win over Vihiga United, beat Mathare United 2-1, floored Nakumatt FC 4-2 and managed a 2-0 away win against Thika United.
