Police officers in Rongai, Nakuru county are holding 46 suspects, including a pastor, linked to the sale of contaminated fuel at Salgaa Trading Centre.

The officers allegedly raided three unlicensed petroleum depots in Salgaa and arrested the 46.

Energy Regulatory Commission in a statement said approximately 1, 000 litres of contaminated fuel stored in cans and drums were recovered from the midnight operations 

“The raids conducted in collaboration with officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and General Service Unit recovered 1, 000 litres of contaminated petroleum fuel stored in jerry cans and drums," the statement said.

The 46 suspects according to the statement by ERC will be charged with various offences such as the construction of petroleum storage facility without a permit, operating a petroleum storage facility without a license and being in possession of adulterated motor vehicle fuel.
