The project, contractors claimed, was overvalued adding that the minister awarded it to close confidants 'so that to defraud the public'.

In a rejoinder, a furious Omanwa accused 'cartels' of frustrating his job adding that the complainants were 'blacklisted' rogue contractors seeking for his attention.

"I am clean. The assembly committee incharge and EACC even gave it a clean bill of health. We have two blocks one will be set next to Treasury bulding.

"Those complaining are rogue contractors whom we blacklisted. They are just cooking propaganda," he said.

Social media users had backed contractors claims insisting that the timber houses were not worth Sh32 million as presented in BQ.

They also asked governor John Nyagarama to fire Mr. Omanwa, his close lieutenant.
