Former Athletics Kenya Vice President David Okeyo has been ordered to pay $150,000 (about Sh15 million) by the IAAF Ethics Board after he was found guilty of diverting federation funds to personal use.

The decision was arrived on by the board, but Okeyo has indicated he will head to the corridors of the court to seek justice and appeal the decision. 

According to Okello, the judgement was harsh and maintains that he is innocent. 

"The judgment is very harsh and I have instructed my legal team to appeal. I maintain my innocence over this matter," said Okeyo.

Okeyo was on Thursday banned for life by the IAAF, in crimes he is said to have committed from as early as 2004.

He was suspended in 2015 alongside other AK officials, who included AK president Isaiah Kiplagat, who died in August 2016, and AK treasurer Joseph Kinyua.

Okeyo has also been accused of extorting money from athletes in relation to anti-doping procedures.
