Celebrated Kenyan artist Akothee has broken her silence on how she felt when death struck her family and robbed her off her son.
It was in 2007 when her only son who was eight months old, then, died leaving her emotionally broken.
"I had only three children but I had dropped four in my ten years of marriage," she told Radio Jambo in an interview on Saturday.
Akothee said it was the first time death had robbed her off a close member of her family and she never thought that she would ever recover from the loss.
"I did not have sufficient money to take him to hospital early at the time, or maybe it was God's time."
She said the boy she lost was the one she delivered along a road in Awendo back in her village in Migori as she walked to a nearby hospital to give birth.
The musician who has staged controversial but electrifying performances in the US and in Europe said many Kenyan women still face uncountable challenges while giving birth and sometime, the only hope is in God.
She said she has learnt a lot in life especially after cheating death three times.
