Captured at Nyakeore, West Mugirango constituency, a group of elders are seen beating unidentified woman and man, with the third victim lying to the far side.

Throughout this time, the unidentified chief, a lady, is seen encouraging elders to descend on the two over their illicit brew business.

"The people of Nyakeore, will you allow someone to abandon her home and come to the village to spoil your husbands? This is what this lady is doing. She deserves more canes," she says.

An elder adds over the man in trouble: "You have abandoned your family and children and this is what you're now doing. It's unacceptable and we have to deal with you."

Sections of social media users have blamed the chief for taking the law into her hands, with some demanding immediate investigations on the viral video.

"We are all against illicit brew but the law ought to be respected. Matiang'i should investigate the chief and have her interdicted immediately," said Carol Kwamboka, an activist.

Another user, Elkana Ongeri added on Borabu Watchtower WhatsApp group: "The chief is right. Some of these cases require instant justice and that's what should have been done."

Incidentally, the clip resurfaced few days after County Commissioner Isaiah Naikoru warned locals against illicit brew business which he said had affected economy of the region negatively.
