Ms. Maribe has been in remand for over 20 days now after being charged with murder of business woman Monica Kimani in September. She's being held with her fiance Joseph Irungu.

And after court appearance, Mr. Kuria termed Maribe as 'best friend', adding that he'll stand with her no matter the circumstances.

"Friendship is precious no matter what," said Kuria, as he hugged the estranged Citizen TV anchor, a familiar figure in Jubilee campaigns.

Besides colleague Francis Gachuri, Kuria's presence in court has however elicited sharp reactions online with sicial users suspecting state interference.

Justice James Wakiaga who formally took over the case warned the media from escalating it's coverage, insisting that it might influence his judgment.

"I am an old school Judge and I don't think this publicity is necessary. Let's stop publishing about the matter until it's heard and determined," he said.

Ms. Maribe and her fiance will return to court on Wednesday October 24th for hearing and determination of bail application.

Kuria is a staunch Jubilee supporter, a party which Maribe covered her campaigns towards 2017 elections.
