Political analyst Gerald Bitok has called for the retirement of all opposition politicians who form the National Super Alliance (NASA) summit.
The group of four brings on board Raila Odinga of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper party), Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) and Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi.
Speaking on Wednesday evening, Bitok urged the leaders to exit active politics after a long stay in the arena and give way for a new set of leaders.
"NASA was a union housing veteran politicians. They should now consider retiring and mentor younger politicians. Its time they gave way for the younger set to take over," he said.
The commentator was speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi.
According to Bitok, the four should now take positions as national icons and relegate themselves to advisors of new leaders for national unity and development.
"Let them take positions as national leaders without interest in elective politics. The nation needs them, but as advisors and not elected persons or people in power," he added.
The group lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2017 elections, with Raila as the flagbearer and Kalonzo his running mate.
Of all the four, only Raila remains silent on his 2022 plans, the remaining having made it clear that they will vie for the presidency.
