AEZ team is currently conducting a feasibility study in the county on the possibility of introducing and utilizing the green energy in the Industrial park.

The paid a courtesy call to Uasin Gishu deputy governor Daniel Chemno on Friday where it revealed that it plans to produce green energy using the remains of maize and other cereal products available across the county.

Chemno on his part assured of the county government's commitment to ensuring the realization of the park which he termed as a game changer not only for Uasin Gishu but also the entire North Rift region.

"All departments are ready to assist where need be to help the park start its operations," he said.

The deputy governor further said the county has sufficient power grid to service all industries that will be set up at the park.

"The main line from Turkwel is connected at Lessos. Its proximity to the park will ensure that no power outages will be experienced," said Chemno.

Deputy President William Ruto on July 7, 2017, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the multi-billion shillings project that aims at facilitating investment in the manufacturing sector by giving businesses an ideal location to set up their enterprises.

Already some 40 companies, mostly from China have expressed interest in setting up at the facility which sits on 1,770 acres of land in Plateau, Eldoret.

The project will be divided into three phases to be rolled out over a 10-year window. Phase one of the project will entail the creation of a 7000-acre industrial park with plans to house between 150 and 400 local and international manufacturers.
