For some hours before assembly business kicked off on Tuesday, songs, dances and typical sycophantic praises dominated the entire building in Nyamira.
Dozens of MCAs gathered to usher in speaker Moffat Teya, who has been away for several weeks following his tours abroad.
In his absence, rumours about his planned impeachment and supposed bad relationship with Governor John Nyagarama would be heard everywhere.
"Those who think can impeach the speaker are mistaken. We shall stand firm and embarrass them on the floor of the house," roared nominated MCA George Mosiori.
Kemera ward representative George Morara added: "We know the executive is reluctant to implement itemised budget but they have no option. Teya is going nowhere."
And songs of praises lasted for several minutes, just like Raila Odinga's famous return in 2014 from the US after contested 2013 polls.
MCAs changed pro-Teya slogans with some labelling him 'Baba', a synonymous tag with Raila Odinga amongst his supporters.
But despite rumours about his impeachment, the assembly transacted business as normal though there were traced of suspicious members of the public in the gallery who would heckle the speaker at some point.
A top official in Governor Nyagarama's communication team hinted possible impeachment of Teya following the governor's meeting with ODM MCAs last Friday.
"It is going to be messy. Things ain't good at all. The governor is not behind anything but I can assure you former Deputy Speaker Duke Omoti is determined to bring him down," he said.
