Despite having a fairly successful trip to Nyamira on Saturday, Deputy President William Ruto did not however miss out of usual better political resistance on the ground.
A team of Jubilee youths had placards in Ruto's support destroyed as another rival group accused them of backing Ruto 'blindly'.
"It's sycophancy that we don't want. When they write such placards, let them ensure than we remain objective. You cannot entirely tell us through them that we are all supporting William Ruto," said Antony Kubwage, one of the youths who destroyed the placards.
Another youth, James Manani said: "Thousands of these people are jobless, and sadly, here they are singing as of Ruto had made Kenya another heaven, to hell with them."
But local administrators were quick to thwart confrontations minutes before Ruto landed, a move that quelled the tension.
Interestingly, none of the placards were displayed in Ruto's support when he was addressing the rally with proponents fearing a possible backlash from Jubilee critics who had also visited.
During the rally, Ruto commissioned Kemera-Kiendege-Gachuba-Girango-Keumbu road besides issuing Sh2 million to Ekerubo Secondary School in Kemera.
